The Old Switching Centre Desk in the late 60s. Brian Ridgeway and Roger Keys.
I think that Brian eventually went to the old Southern ITV company, TVS.
Roger became involved, along with Ken Clayson and Roger Douglas, in the then
new ADX teleprinter message switch.
In the 60s, 405-line TV was passing through, and routing was via Ledex switches (mechanical like telephone exchanges at the time).. These switches could not cope with colour so that is when we had the first solid state, field effect transistor, matrix. News came from Alexander Palace and was offered to TVC as an outside source. I recall Micheal Aspel, Kenneth Kendal, Peter Woods and others sitting there waitng to go on. The pictures from AP came to BH via Swains Lane.

This was at the time of the Royal Wedding of Charles and Diana. You can see St Pauls on one monitor and Buckingham Palace on another. It was the last big event I worked on, and I was acting Assistant Operations Manager that day.
